Artist's Comments

This is the first time I get to handle the an entire issue of comic book artworks from start to finish. It is quite an experience.
The process is painstaking, but I am learning quite a bit from this. There are some limitation with "painted" sequential pages, one of which I am most concern about, and I've seen in most of other "painted" comics is being a little static. There are a lot of things I can do with lineart to indicate motion and movement, but I think my painted pages are a bit more static than I like them to be. It is one of the thing I'd like to overcome in the future.

I know what you mean by being a little static, but i definetly think you made the best too look as dynamic and provoke that sense of speed. Especially in this page.

I love the way the pages turned out. This painted style is one of the most creative and gorgeous looking i've seen in a TF book. Can't wait for the book to come out. Have you finished all the art or are you still working on it?

p.s. This is definetly one of my fav transformations sequences ever :D

I gotta say Mr.Su, this looks gorgeous! It really does look splendid - it's got a certain quality to it. And honestly, I cannot wait to have and read and drool over this issue :D

I agree it is very difficult to portray energetic movement in ';painted' pieces - I myself am having issues with it - although I'm light years behind ur skillz!

Again - absolutely gorgeous work!

Thanks! I am glad they turned out ok so far.
I am still working on the issue right now, the first 3 pages was very time consuming mainly because I was trying to find the most efficient way to do this, the pages after the first 3 have been moving along a lot faster now.

Thanks Chris.
You just can't compare our skills, since the process is so much different. my 3D modeling skill is certainly light years behind yours. ;)

It looks like I've put up more than one copy of page 3, so I removed one of them, of which you have commented on. SO I'll respond the inquiry here.

"how long does the process take when it comes to painting semi realistic art?"

Normally a cover takes me between 1-3 days, depends on my time and complexity, but these sequentials are taking longer since I have been experimenting looking for more efficient ways of working on these.
